Specialists

Our staff of specialists, comprised of qualified teachers, coaches and college graduates,
lead and instruct our camp program of activities. These areas include swim, sports, art,
ceramics, jewelry, archery, theater, science, rock climbing, ropes courses, tennis,
gymnastics, nature, wonderworks, go-carts, cooking, golf and photography.

Specialists in these areas design and deliver programs that allow campers to develop
individual and team skills and to experience a sense of growing competence and
accomplishment. While engaged in the task at hand, specialists also focus on each
camper’s developing sense of self in the world. The goal at Harbor Hills is to create a safe,
relaxed environment for campers to take the initiative, try new things, learn through
their own individual exploration and play and also feel part of a team. As a specialist,
you are responsible for the learning experience at your activity area of expertise.

Certified teachers are also used as supervisors on our Teen Travel Program.
This program consists of day trips and a few overnights in various parts of New Jersey,
New York State, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts and other nearby regions.
This program supports the growing sense of adventure and independence of our
Teen campers and ensures that campers are safe throughout their trip.

Counselors:
At Harbor Hills, graduating high school seniors and college students are eligible to
become counselors. Our counselors work in teams of two or three with a specific age group.
Our counselors are the “front line,” serving as role models for the 15 campers in their group.
Counselors travel with their group to each scheduled activity area. Responsibilities include:
assisting all specialists, participating in all activities, helping swim instructors, leading the
campers from activity to activity, maintaining the safety of the campers, having fun and
finding a way to raise each camper’s self-esteem.

Counselors have an opportunity to make an impact on their campers’ lives and create
memories for themselves and their campers that will last a lifetime.

If you are energetic and love playing and working with children,
then this is the job for you.
